SARS-CoV-2 virus or COVID-19

I was a fit, active 64-year-old living an extremely healthy lifestyle.

On Dec 5, 2020, I was exposed to an individual who had been diagnosed with COVID-19. On Dec 12, 2020 I tested negative for COVID-19 with a rapid antigen test administered by nasal swab. 3 days later, all hell broke loose.

COVID-19 Day 1: Dec 15, 2020

By coincidence, I previously scheduled a routine visit with my primary doctor. He diagnosed acute bronchitis and prescribed an antibiotic, steroid, and cough suppressant.

Several hours later, the following symptoms appeared with rapid onset:
+ 102.6 fever
+ sinus & chest congestion
+ deep dry cough
+ no appetite
+ body chills
+ no smell or taste

With the onset of that last symptom, I knew I had COVID-19.

For the next week, the symptoms worsened, although the fever and chills subsided. On Dec 21, 2020, I received a + COVID-19 diagnosis, again from a rapid antigen test at a local urgent care clinic.

Long COVID is a condition wherein people experience COVID-19 symptoms for longer than usual after initially contracting the SARS-CoV-2 virus. That’s me.
